Education
is the key to every part of life. Drivers ed is vital to
keeping everyone on the roads safe. We all need to know the rules of
the road and understand how to drive safely. There are too many
drivers who do not understand the rules of the road and break the
rules daily. And there are not enough law enforcement officers on the
road to uphold the laws. Drivers recognize this which empowers them
to push the limits since they do not think anyone is watching. Self
entitlement is another factor. Too many people feel like the rules
don’t apply to them and they drive erratically causing everyone
around them to adjust quickly. Continuing education is the key. It
would be very helpful to remind each driver about the rules of the
road. There is continuing education in many fields such as Nursing,
Realtors, and coaching for example. Continuing education every few
years with a brief test at the end would ensure that each licensed
driver stay current on the rules and laws of the road. Education is
the key to driving safely. Vehicles are a great way to travel but
there is also a great deal of responsibility that comes along with
it. There are far too many accidents every day. These accidents could
be avoided with more education. I was in a car accident a few years
ago. My sister was driving a couple of us friends to grab an ice
cream and then to see the Christmas lights. We were heading straight
down the road when a lady approximately my Moms age crossed the road
right in front of us. She did not have the green arrow and clearly
did not have the appropriate amount of space to cross traffic. My
sister worked fast to avoid an accident but could not get out of the
way fast enough. The adult lady hit us and then proceeded to sit in
her car right in the middle of the intersection. We quickly jumped
out to make sure everyone was safe and ran to check on the other
vehicle. They sat there and ignored us. We could not understand why a
grown adult wouldn’t check on everyone involved. The woman had no
idea of the rules of the road. She argued with the police officer
rudely and didn’t even listen to the officer when he tried to
educate the woman. This was a clear example of how more education was
needed. We all need to continue learning every day as none of us know
everything. It is important to review the rules of the road
periodically as I’m sure we forget them sometimes. Driver’s
education is vital to keeping all of us safe on the roads. Education
is the key to success.
