Safe
Driving Essay

When
a person finally gets behind the wheel of a car, he or she should be
prepared for the responsibility that comes with operating a motor
vehicle. There is basic information that will help drivers get
started, as well as some things to avoid doing in order to be safer
on the road.

A car can be a person’s
first sense of freedom and while ,yes, they are fun and useful, they
can be very dangerous if not driven properly. Drivers should always
wear a seatbelt, as well as the passengers. It doesn’t take long to
put on and could save lives in a crash. The speed limit is there for
a reason. Drivers should follow it, but sometimes drivers may need to
drive slower to adjust for the conditions. Use of the horn is not a
constant thing, so don’t abuse it use it. Drivers should always
indicate with the turn signals when needed and shouldn’t pull out
until they are fully confident that they can do so successfully.

Maintaining a vehicle is
important and can teach a driver about the vehicle. Always make sure
to have the proper amount of fluids in all of the reservoirs. Make
sure brake pads are not worn they should be replaced if they are too
worn. Insure the vehicle before driving. It is illegal to drive
uninsured in Oklahoma, so find an insurance company and plan that
works. Do not ever drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It
significantly alters the ability to react and make proper judgement.

Driving
under the influence is the cause of twenty eight percent of all fatal
car accidents in the U.S. Driving tired is also very dangerous. If a
driver is drowsy, avoid driving or pull over to a safe area and sleep
before continuing. Speeding can be tempting in a powerful car, but
it is not rewarding. Speeding is the cause of thirty one percent of
fatal crashes in the U.S.

Staying
focused and active in searching the environments for dangers should
keep drivers relatively safe. Follow all safe driving standards and
deviate from the speed limit only to adjust for what conditions the
road will hold.
