Reduce
the Risk
Driver
education is the most important learning aspect before receiving your
license and driving a vehicle for the first time. Drivers ed is
important because if you do not know how to fully operate what you
are driving, then you are automatically putting not only yourself but
others at risk as well. Knowing the consequences before driving will
reduce the number of deaths caused by car accidents.
Many
steps could be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
driving. One specific action that could be taken is to make driver
education obligatory to all people before allowing them to receive
their license. Another step to reduce deaths related to driving would
be to stress the importance of staying focused while in the driver’s
seat. In the United States, the leading cause of car accidents happen
because of distracted drivers.
Personally,
I have not been involved in a serious car accident. Although
recently, one of my best friends was involved and devastatingly died
from running off of an unfamiliar road because of distracted driving
at night and speeding. She was only sixteen years old. When
occurrences like this happen, one tends to stop and think about what
they could have done to prevent this tragedy. Her life was taken way
too soon because of something as simple as not realizing she should
not speed in the dark or be distracted. Instead of trying to fix the
problem, we should start preventing the problem by making driver
education a priority. These instances should not even occur if people
were getting the most reliable drivers ed.
To
become a better and safer driver, I will stay focused until I arrive
at my destination, take precautions while driving a vehicle, drive
the speed limit, and obey all rules when I drive. To help others
become safer drivers on the road, I will lead by example, express to
them how important being safe and wearing a seatbelt is, encourage
them to take and pass a drivers ed class, and exhibit all of
the qualities of a responsible driver. In conclusion, driver
education plays a very important role in preventing and reducing the
number of deaths related to car accidents.
