Driver
education is important because it allows everyone to be safe on the
road from drivers to pedestrians to bikers. To reduce the number of
deaths while driving drivers must follow the rules of the road while
staying alert and on the lookout at all times. Many deaths that occur
while driving happen because people are texting and driving. With new
laws and education being put in place, the number of deaths on the
road can be reduced drastically. Steps that can be taken to reduce
the number of deaths while driving are new traffic laws, educational
apps that turn your phone off while driving, and simply cutting
distractions and paying attention to the task at hand. I have been in
a car accident where the driver who hit us was not paying attention.
Sometimes when I ride with my friends they text and drive, which
brings back memories of my car accident because I am afraid they
could do that to someone else. Steps I take when I drive to be a
better driver is I keep my music at a low volume level, turn my phone
off, and I limit distractions by only having one extra person in my
car. I educate my friends and family members when I am a passenger by
asking them not to text and drive, but if the text is immediate then
I ask if I can send the text for them that way they focus on the
road. Drivers ed is very important to save people’s lives and
educating both yourself, friends, and family members first is just
one small, but major step to saving lives and being careful on the
road.
