I recently received my
driver’s license back in April 2019, and yes I very excited that I
am driving, but I know that driving is not only a privilege from your
parents but a privilege in the state you live. No one owes you
anything when it comes to receiving your license. When I’m driving
on the road by myself or with other passengers I see others eating,
watching tv, applying makeup, and doing all sorts of things WHILE
DRIVING. My mind is blown when I see the crazy stuff people do while
driving, especially on the highways. The steps I believe I can take
as being a young and new driver on the road, is to watch how fast or
slow I’m going while on the road and watch who I’m driving in
front of, behind and even side of me. I cannot say much right now
because I’m still grappling to the hang of driving, but another
step I believe I will be taking more is a mental step and what I mean
by that, is not being mentally selfish by saying “ I had the right
to go first because I was in line first or because I had the
rightaway” if I can avoid the situation and avoid causing an
accident I don’t care who goes first and who goes last, when on the
road you can’t only think of your life and your life alone. You
have to be mindful of you (of course) and others around, just like
going to war, you have to fight to protect your life and your
brothers and sisters in camo as well.
