Driving
Safely and Knowledgeably

Most people
probably think to themselves that terrible accidents they see will
never happen to them. It’s so easy to think that. However, did you
know that more people get killed in a vehicle accident than even
fighting in a war? Why is that? It is because of the lack safety and
of education for being on roads. That next accident could be you if
you don’t know what you are doing, whether you think you do or not,
and if you don’t use the right safety precautions and defensive
driving.

First, being
educated in driving would greatly decrease the amount of deaths
caused by accidents. When you are knowledgeable about road rules, you
not only can abide by them safely yourself, but you can be more aware
of others violating those rules. This gives you an ability to be a
better defensive driver… which decreases accidents…which thus
decreases the risk of death.

So how can act
to take away those risks in driving? Get educated! Go to the DMV for
advice, do your own research, and get to know the rules of wherever
you are driving! Learn them so well that they are second nature for
you. You must, however, put those tools into practice. Without using
what you know, it is useless. So, drive safely, drive defensively,
and drive knowledgably. Put those things into practice, and you will
be sure to lower the risk of accidents and death from them, for
wherever and whenever you are out on the road.

I have been the
passenger of an accident, specifically a rear ending, at something as
simple as a stop-light. This just supports the fact that it is
incredibly important to practice what you know of safe driving
and to always be on your best defense. Know how to drive well,
and always be aware. Even at something as simple as a stop-light.

Finally, I can
take steps to being a better and safer driver by 1) educating myself
even more about driving, 2) being more aware of my surroundings at
ALL times, and 3) practicing what I learn when I educate
myself. What about others? Spread the news! Keep other people
educated, and remind them of the cost of an accident. Inform them.
Most importantly, lead by example by driving safely yourself and
proving that it really is much more positively effective to know and
practice how to drive on the roads. Life is precious. Don’t waste
it on careless driving.
