In
the Driver’s Seat

Driving
in the year of 2019 has a significant amount of risk and danger
involved within itself, however, this can be fixed through proper
education with these motor vehicles. By teaching inexperienced or
unknowledgeable drivers about the rules of the road and how to stay
safe, there can be a drastic change in the death rate of these
vehicles. The Division of Motor Vehicles has many courses that can be
very useful for educating these drivers, although many drivers do not
take up this opportunity to sharpen their road skills.

Steps
that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths while driving can
vary. There are many ways that a person can help protect lives while
driving. Drivers that are aware of this problem can improve their
driving skills by paying close attention to the road and following
the other rules of the road. These drivers that are aware of this
problem can help educate the drivers that are not aware of this
problem of some potential distractions and possible issues that could
arise and can teach how to address them.

Before
I was born, my Mother was in a car accident while she was pregnant
with me. A driver of a van that was paying no attention to the road
ran a red light and ran right into the side of the car that my Mother
was in. After going to the emergency room, my Mom went into early
labor and had to stay in the hospital for several weeks. This wreck
has caused our family to strive for vehicle safety by educating my
brother and I as well as educating our friends who have either gotten
their driving license or are about to get their driving license.

A
way that I can help society with driving is providing support and
comfort to those who have lost loved ones due to a car accident and
referring drivers to the proper source to get educated. My Dad is a
police officer who has taught me many ways to stay safe and keep
others safe while I am on the road. I have adopted some rules to keep
my passengers and I safe, along with other drivers that are around
me. Some of these rules are putting my phone in a secure place that
will not distract me while I am driving, constantly checking my
mirrors and blindspots, having the music set on a low level that will
not distract me, and wearing my seatbelt. As a country who strives
for safety, we can change how dangerous the road is and save lives
nationwide.
