I believe
drivers education is very important in reducing the numbers of
deaths that occur every year. I am a relatively new driver myself
and the drivers education class I took was very helpful to me in
learning ways to be a better driver. I believe that driver’s
education should be actually brought back to schools. I believe it
should be a requirement in every state for every person wanting to
get a driver’s license. I also believe that it should be retaken
every 5 years or so as there are so many things that can change in
regarding to driving a vehicle that I think people should have to do
a refresher class.
There are so many
factors today that contribute to accidents/deaths related to driving.
The biggest contributor is the cell phone. Driver’s are so
distracted today with cell phones. I have seen so many people on
their phones texting or doing whatever all while driving. I have
watched these same people into the other lanes of traffic almost
hitting another vehicle. No one is paying attention anymore. Social
media, texting or that phone call seems to be more important than
people’s lives including their own.
There is a way I
think accidents/deaths due to driving could be reduced. I would like
to see the cell phone companies to have something installed in their
phones that senses exactly the moment when someone is in a car. Once
it is sensed, the phone’s abilities completely shut down except for
the ability to call 911 in the case of an emergency.
I already have
taken the biggest step in being a batter and safer driver by taking
the drivers education class but I will not only continue to use the
skills and knowledge I learned in that class, I will also be a very
attentive driver and be aware of my surroundings at all time so that
I might be able to avoid a collision as well as tell as many of my
friends and family to please put the phone down while you are
driving.
