Today’s
youth don’t understand the importance of safe driving and that you
are always on your feet for wrong side drivers, drunk drivers, and
people on their phones. Even adults are horrible about being on their
phone while driving. In 2018 alone, there were an estimated 40,000
driving fatalities which is 7,000 more than the Korean war and 7,000
less than the Vietnam war. This is a serious concern especially to
the parents of new drivers that care for the safety of their
children. When I first got my license, it was my dad gave me the
choice of fixing our old 1966 Ford Fairlane, or we could buy my
grandpa’s 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. When my mom found out, the said
fixing the old Ford was not an option as it didn’t have power
steering, power breaks, or seat belts. So I ended up driving the
Silverado. As a new teenage driver obviously i was going to show off
my driving skills speeding and being an idiot. A year later i found
out one of my family members had died in an accident involving a
teenage driver under the influence and although its not the same as a
sober teenage driver, it was still a young teenager behind the wheel.
