Saving
Lives Behind the Wheel

There
is nothing worse than a late-night call with the information that
your best friend has been in a horrific wreck and he is being life
flighted. I have been affected by wrecks and distracted driving
almost every day of my life. It affected me physically and mentally.
I want to inform people of the different steps they can take to stop
distracted driving and make the world safer.

The
first step is simple. Pay attention to what is going on around the
vehicle! Many accidents happen because people are lazy and are not
paying attention to the movement around them. Being a lazy driver
could affect you more than texting and driving. Texting and driving
is another leader on the board of distractions. Cell phones are
always in close distances which makes them easier to play on while
driving. Phones have been an amazing technological advancement but
are not good in the vehicle. Many companies have strived to make
different features in vehicles to lower the use of phone usage in the
car. While these are great, we are still worried about what is going
on with our phones rather than the road. Lastly, do not drink and
drive. Drinking and driving is the number one cause to deaths behind
the wheel. The worst part is the driver is not the one affected it is
the other vehicle or the driver’s passengers that lose their life.
Driving under intoxication puts you at the highest advantage to be
put into a car accident which is what needs to be eliminated in the
world.

In
conclusion, driving is dangerous anytime. If everyone on the road
stays aware, stays off their phones, and does not drink and drive
many deaths could be eliminated. Deaths behind the wheel is something
that drivers can work to eliminate. We can control how many wrecks
happen and can work to put an end to them all together.
