Drivers
education greatly decreases the number of deaths from traffic
accidents. A study done by AAA found “that drivers’ education
reduces teen crash rates by 4.3 percent and lowers the number of
traffic tickets received by nearly 40 percent.” Making drivers
education mandatory for all teenagers nationwide could help reduce
the number of car related deaths. Increasing awareness on what
distracted driving is can also help reduce crashes. Distracted
driving is not just texting and driving. It can also be having
emotionally charged conversations while driving. Knowing this can
help people make sure they have those tough conversations outside of
the car. I have seen friends drive irresponsibly and they had to pay
heavily for it. Seeing what this has done to them shows me to be a
more responsible driver. I can become a better driver by taking
defensive driving classes every few years.
