Awareness of being a Saver
Driver
People
around the world have suffered or has lost their loved ones to tragic
accidents. Driving a vehicle might possibly be one of the most
frequent causes of deaths. An average of 34,000 victims die yearly
due to driving in the U.S. leaving an average of 93 on a daily
basis. As a responsible driver we should keep in mind the lives of
others and their own, and maintain their focus on the road at all
times.
Drivers
should not drive under the influence, whether it is alcohol, drugs,
or severe medication. Many think alcohol/drugs does not impact their
driving skills, however once ‘one is drinking they cannot judge for
themselves; in most cases it ends up with DUIs or tragedies. In 2016,
10,497 people died alcohol driving crashes; when drivers are choosing
to drive to places where alcohol is being served, they are getting on
a death road. With new opportunities such as uber and lyft there is
no reason for drunk drivers to be on the roads in the first place.
One of my family friends, went
out one night and did not come home to her family. She was driving
under the influence of alcohol, and got in a horrific car accident
that caused her life; her friend also was in coma for a few days
until she passed. It really made me realize how much my decisions can
impact my life and others, and the risk I take by getting in a car
everyday. There are many irresponsible drivers that get on the roads
on a regular basis. The statistics for reckless drivers is almost
doubled on the weekends because they more likely to be driving under
the influence. That is why drivers who get more than 2 DUIs should
never even get the chance to renew their license.
Most
U.S. residents need some type of transformation to get around, either
to work or to school; so it’s not like we can shout out driving
completly but we can help those who make these horrible decisions. We
can help by helping drug addicts, alcoholics, and texting addicts by
getting them the right sources. Or simply taking the keys away if
they aren’t in their right senses even if they get mad, or taking
their phones to keep them from getting distracted. By leaving your
phone in the back seat, it will help with the habit of checking it
every time a little ring sounds.
Driving
should be a beautiful experience. Learning how to drive once you turn
16 should be exciting. Instead parents are being terrified to death
with these daily news (about car accidents that have caused innocent
people to die) and feel like they can’t trust their kids to simply
drive to the store and get some groceries. I have always been told by
my mother that, “I trust you to not make stupid decisions and
drive, but I don’t trust the other drivers”, which is completely
true. However, if we all put our parts and leave the bad habits such
as alcohol and the phone for another time we can start saving the
lives of others and our own.
