the Driver’s Seat

In today’s society driving/car accidents is the number one causes
of deaths, this recording is so scary due to young drivers not caring
or driving irresponsible. A number of reasons why there are so many
car accidents due to but not limited to: texting and driving, under
the influence, careless driving, and not paying attention to the
road. The importance of drivers’ education is to show younger
drivers why you need/have to be aware of your surroundings. I believe
having the younger drivers silence their phones and put them on do
not disturb will help reduce the accident rates is one step closer to
bringing these deaths down. As a younger driver, I have been involved
in a car accident; this experience is something I wish no one else
could/should experience. The fright I had in my body was off the
charts, though it was a small accident, it really affected my
thoughts and changed my perceptive of driving forever. Getting behind
the wheel is a big step of growing up as well as a step closer to
adulthood, with this there should be some restrictions for younger
drivers to help shape their routine of driving as well as help reduce
accidents/deaths. Although some accidents are due to the careless
drivers, it can seriously affect another persons’ world when that
accident is more than a ‘accident’. As people in society, we need
to set steps to help driving become safer and better for the sake of
everyone’s lives. A step closer to that would be to start driving
without a cell phone on their person, to silence their phones, or to
put their devices on do not disturb meaning of this step is to not
have a distraction while you are on the road, if by any means you
need to contact someone it should be advised to pull over into a
parking lot and then do whatever is necessary. Another step would be
to push back the permit age or to make the permit holding longer for
young drivers have more experience on the road with an adult looking
over them to show or help them. Reason being is for younger drivers
to have more experience or to be more mature to be able to drive, it
is shown that young drivers either do not pay attention while on the
road or they are careless while driving. Lastly, another step would
be to have young drivers show proof that they have been driving on
the road for a certain amount of time, as well as experience of
driving after sunset to see the dangers of the roads when the sun is
not out. With these changes, it could lower deaths rates drastically
as well as making the roads safer.
