  I
would first like to begin by introducing myself.  My name is
Cassidy Captain and I am a senior in high school currently.  I
plan to attend a four year private university next fall. I have been
driving for almost two years now and gain experience everyday on the
road and know how important it is to be educated on drivers
education. Since learning how to drive and even before my parents
have always told me that driving is a serious task (and) is not to be
taken lightly. My dad would say, “Drive your car like your holding
a loaded weapon”.

     In
my life experience so far I have come across a few situations of
those who have been in car accidents or family members have died in
them. This impacts every single person that knows someone driving.
Teen drivers are often at risk for accidents due to the little amount
of experience they have. As a teenager, drivers ed is vitally
important to me due to the fact that I have friends and family in my
life that have been affected. Study’s studies show that auto
accidents are the leading cause of death for teens aged 15 to 20.
With the help of more education, this statistic can be erased.

     Drivers
education is the first step in learning how to be a safe and reliable
driver behind the wheel. Starting the education of driving even
before the student gets behind the wheel is critical to being safe.
This is bz. It gives the opportunity to learn controls and ways of
the car and road in a less stressful environment so you are familiar
and can ease into driving. Many teens are not exposed to the
consequences of poor driving until they take a drivers ed
class let alone basic signs or maneuvers.

      There
are many ways to reduce the risk of injury or death from driving. For
example, simply attending a drivers ed class will give you a
basic foundation for the ways of the road. Exercising caution while
involved with something new and dangerous is important so rush
ourselves and get flustered. Students should ask their parents to
practice with them often and stay up to date on traffic signs and
situations behind the wheel. Lastly, remembering how serious of a
task you are completing while driving can be the best way to prevent
an accident.  You would never fire a gun without any background
knowledge or the proper training because it is seen as a dangerous
weapon. A vehicle should be treated just the same because of how
serious it is. Your life and others are truly at your fingertips and
remembering this while staying calm is very important.

      In
summary, there are many steps you can take to help yourself and
others to be a better and safer driver. Driving is one of the most
serious tasks you can do day to day and it is imperative to know the
importance of drivers ed.
