Be
Safe when you Drive to Save a Life

Driver
safety should be one of the biggest concerns there is when it comes
to deaths in the human population. The amount of deaths that are
caused by car accidents is almost equivalent to world wars and very
impactful wars in history. There needs to be more education on driver
safety to inform younger people of the dangers of driving and what
they should and not do when driving. There are also several steps
that can and should be taken to try and lower the number of
casualties caused by reckless driving. For instance, there have been
several incidents that I have been close to an accident. I know that
with my experience I can give at least five points to safer driving.

Teaching
people about the importance of driving should be essential
everywhere. Yes, states have their tests and some even require
underage young drivers to go to driving school. The problem is that
there is only a small percentage of drivers that actually do go to
driving school and the others just wait until they are 18 to take the
test by reading the book. Reading the book is good, in the moment,
but some people later on forget important. There is nothing like
physically taking the class to get educated about the safety of
driving, and understanding the dangers that come with driving. Maybe
there can be a change of how people are being educated, which can be
one of the many steps that can be taken to reduce the amount of
deaths.

There
can be various steps that can be taken to minimize the amount of
deaths caused by automobilistic accidents. One can be changing the
education system, this can change to maybe a requirement of attending
at least 2 classes even if you are 18, and have a certificate from
the driving school that certifies that you passed the test. Another,
step can be posting statistics of deaths or the consequences of
reckless driving on the behind of driver licenses. Drivers can look
at the data and doublethink an action before they follow through.
Those of some of my suggestions to steps that should be taken to
reduce the amount of deaths.

In
my lifetime, I had come across several accidents and some that were
very close. The most serious event that almost lead to a serious
accident was when I was a sophomore in highschool. My mother and I
were on our way to an errand where there was music playing on the
radio. I was dancing to the music and distracting my mom, when we did
not see the red light. We almost crashed into an 18 wheeler that had
the green light, but fortunately he saw that we were not slowing down
so he stopped a little before we got to the intersection. This was
one of the scariest incidents that has ever came across in my life,
and really made me take driving seriously and to learn not to
distract the driver because it can come to an event where one can
lose their own life.

From
that day I have stuck to 5 rules that I use to be a safer driver. The
first is to always stick to my curfew, if I do go over it I always
respect the rules, like the lights and the speed limit. My second
rule is to never go above the speed limit, nor below, this is a
gigantic indicator to police officers that you can be reckless
drivers. A third rule is that I always way for my turn when it comes
to either a light, turn or a stop sign, there can always a driver
that might not respect the signs and can make you look guilty of an
accident. My fourth rule is to always carry my license everywhere, it
is not just a form of identification, but it can make you more
believable if there is ever an event where a police officer stops
you, and you have to explain yourself for your actions. My last and
final rule is to never drive if you are intoxicated with a substance,
or alcohol nor to drive if you are sleepy, these lower your driving
ability and can make it more probable for you to get into an accident
because you simply are not at you 100 percent capability.

Driver
education is very important, and everyone need to be educated about
the rules and dangers, either drivers and non-drivers. There are
several steps that can be taken to decrease the amount of deaths and
just make the streets safer for everyone. I have experienced a lot of
accidents and done the research to educate myself so I can be a safer
driver not only for myself but for everyone else who drive beside on
the road.
