Being a
safe and educated driver can be one of the most important things to
learn in your whole life. Without having the correct knowledge of
being safe on the roadways, many lives could be at stake if an
uneducated driver gets behind the wheel. That’s why certain steps
should be taken to make it safe. The steps to becoming an educated
driver are fairly simple. Reading through the driver’s safety
handbook the state DMV gives you is a good start to beginning your
drivers ed. Drivers ed is almost one-hundred
percent common sense, so if you don’t have any common sense you
need to make sure you read the book that is given to you. They make
many different apps that can assist a starting driver in learning the
rules of driving. These apps are available to everyone in different
versions for all fifty states. Not only do you need to remember these
rules for the test that is required to acquire a driver’s license,
but should be remembered after the test, for the rest of your life.
People who fail to remember these rules potentially end up as a
statistic on a piece of paper. The best way to reduce the number of
car accidents each year is to make sure that new drivers are actually
tested harder not only on paper but on the road as well. Speaking
from experience, when I had to drive with an instructor I was not
challenged at all or put in any uncomfortable situations. So when I
got out on the road by myself I didn’t have the confidence I
thought I would and confidence is the number one skill to have when
driving. When drivers are not confident in their driving capabilities
thats where drivers begin to second guess themselves. When drivers
start second-guessing, that when accidents begin to happen.Another
huge problem that leads to car accidents is driving under the
influence. Driving under the influence is one of the leading causes
of death in the world. My mom has had the first-hand experience with
a DUI related accident. My mom was not part of it, but one of her
best friends that had been drinking decided to ride home along with
three others in the car. The car crashed injuring her friends and
killing her. Knowing what my mom went through, I promised her that I
would never put her through that again. This is a story that hits
close to me but trust me there are way more that have caused more
fatalities and grieving. I believe that the Consequences for a DUI
should be way more extreme due to the risks that come with it. Maybe
if the consequences were more intense it would happen less. In
conclusion, people are always going to die on the roadways but that
number can be significantly reduced if we pay close attention to the
roadways, follow the rules, and study the books that are given to us.
If we pay attention to these three things safer roadways are in our
near future.
