Drivers
Education and Safe Driving

Driving
is a right of passage for almost every teenager. Car crashes are the
number one killer of teens in the U.S and account for 3,287 deaths
each day. These numbers are too high. We could lower these numbers by
finding ways to reduce the numbers of deaths, especially in teens.

Teenagers
16-19 are three more times likely to be involved in a fatal car
accident. The most common reason for young driving deaths is
inexperience. Drivers eds gives some of the much need
experience. To get a driver’s license a teens have to take a written
test based on their understanding of rules and regulations on the
road. Then is a learners permit where an experienced driver at least
21 years of age helps to coach and teach new driver. They gain about
six months to a year of experience. This is very important because
teens get real world experience, but with someone who knows what
there doing. During this time it is important to teach a new driver
safety tips while they are driving. Don’t text and drive this is a
big problem because people don’t realize what those few seconds
looking at your phone cost. Speed limits are there for a reason.
Alsonever drive if you are uncomfortable or feel unsafe in a
situation. Last never drive drunk call someone or stay where you are.
These are important tips that can be taught to young drivers to make
driving safer.

Every time I ride
with a family member I see something that I know could put me and
others at risk of an accident. When my parents text or do a U turn at
a stop light I see these things and know how easily this could end
badly. So when I got my driver’s license I decided to learn from
these mistakes. When I drive I give my phone to the passenger or put
it behind my seat where I can not reach it. If I take a wrong turn I
keep going till I find a safe place to turn around. I do my best to
stick to the speed limit and be vigilant when driving. I know this
plan of safe driving will pay off because my little sister sees me
doing these things and hopefully she will follow these rules when she
can drive. Then there will be less of a chance of deaths related to
driving accidents.

Since Americans are
traveling more, drivers safety is more important than ever. We should
start at the beginning of driving with drivers ed. If we teach
our young drivers safe driving then the next generation will have the
education needed to be safe on the road. Safe driving will help to
lower the frequency of driver accidents.
