The
Gift Of Life”

Today,
I have seen more deaths from reckless driving that most adults would
have their entire life. From a girl looking at her phone and crashing
into me or witnessing a person fall asleep while driving and
crashing, I feel that in today’s world knowing drivers ed is
very important. Not only can it saves lives, but it creates a better
and healthier society. If people are forced to educate themselves on
the rules of the road, then there will be a decrease in the number of
deaths from car accidents. I believe multiple steps can be taken in
order to reduce this number. One being having multiple times in life
where humans are required to take a drivers ed class. I believe
only taking one class at the age of 15 is not sufficient enough. In
addition, most 15-year olds are not able to process the information
they are receiving. Therefore having a required driving education
class every 15 years would be sufficient in reducing deaths. It will
also keep people updated on new rules of the roads and frequent
accidents that are happening. Also, we could reduce deaths by
reinforcing the consequences of those with infractions with the
police. I think that driving school should also be taken seriously
and people need to realize their mistakes more often. I say all of
this because I have experienced it. To this day I have to look up
questions online on the rules of the road and practice safely. When I
was in my junior year of high school, I was in a major car accident
that left my car totaled. It had rained earlier that day, but I was
in a rush to get to one of my practices. And being very ignorant, I
was running to my car and trying to speed but it ended up doing
nothing. All of a sudden the person in front of me came to a hauling
stop, causing me, already distracted from ignorant driving, had to
slam on the breaks. Which the teenage girl behind me was also not
paying attention and was on her phone, crashing into me and creating
a 5 car accident. This accident created a fear within me while
driving. I am always paying attention to the road, I do not let my
phone distract me, I stop very early when needing to stop, and I
encourage others while driving with them to create new habits instead
of bad. To me, life is precious; fleeting; you don’t know when you
might lose a loved one or when you will take your last breath or have
that last embrace with your soul mate. So in the end, creating a way
to save lives with a better drivers ed is a necessity in
today’s world.
