me, the importance of driving safely is imperative. One wrong move
can create a lifetime of regret. Sadly, my grandmother had been
victim to the poor decisions of someone else, essentially taking her
from us. She is still physically with us, but she suffered so much
brain damage from being hit by a drunk driver that it feels as though
we lost her completely. Because of his carelessness, I have taken
cautious driving more to heart than the normal person, as it has
affected me in a very personal way. I believe that to reduce the
number of deaths caused by careless driving, we should start teaching
children from a young age the importance of being responsible and
making smart decisions. If you plan to be out drinking, make
arrangements with a trusted designated driver to take you home
beforehand. Another issue is texting and driving, causing around 1.6
million deaths a year. If you have a text or call while you are
driving, wait until you are stopped. If it is important, pull over on
the side of the road and make sure you are in a safe environment
where you can answer. One text or call is not worth your life. I
personally will make sure that my friends are safe when driving,
keeping myself from texting or calling them if I know that they are
driving, because I want them safe and I know they would want the same
for me.
