When it comes to
saving the lives of drivers around the world, one of the most helpful
tools at hand is drivers ed. When teenagers today are
attempting to get their license, they first must go through driver’s
education in order to receive their temps. Drivers ed is a
great way to help these young, aspiring drivers to develop great
safety habits and skills to become responsible drivers. If all
aspiring drivers of any age were made to take drivers ed
classes, then the tips, messages, and rules of safe and responsible
driving could be echoed throughout a much larger audience. This in
turn could result in a tremendous increase of safe, responsible, and
careful drivers on the highways and streets of America.
Unfortunately, deaths while driving are so numerous that they are
outnumbering casualties of war. This alarming statistic brings about
a need for change when it comes to driver’s safety. One method of
helping to reduce driving deaths would be to take away someone’s
license permanently if they are arrested for a DUI. Hopefully, this
harsh punishment for first time offenders will make many people think
twice before attempting to operate machinery when intoxicated or on
drugs. Another step that could be taken is to advance technology in
vehicles to be able to detect the alcohol level of drivers. If we can
create this amazing feat of automobile advancement, we can prevent
drunk drivers from attempting to drive at all.
One of the
most profound and impactful memories of my childhood was when my mom
and I raced to the accident my father was in. My father was driving
home at night when he ran into a twelve-point buck crossing the road.
The car was totaled, and my father was lucky to be alive and only
have minor injuries. Many other family members such as my brother and
mom have also been in accidents before, and I am profoundly thankful
that none of these accidents have been fatal. All these events in
history have motivated me vigorously to help prevent accidents and
keep people safe.
There are a variety of ways to improve my
driving as well as helping others that I know and love on being safe
behind the wheel. One of the most impactful ways of increasing my
awareness and discipline behind the wheel would be to research and
discover stories of unsafe drivers and the consequences they faced.
By reviewing these stories and sharing them with my friends and
family, they should serve as a powerful reminder to always be
responsible and safe on the road. Another way that I know would
improve my driving capabilities is to continue reviewing and quizzing
myself on the rules and laws of the road. By continuing to review
these traffic laws, I will better myself and my driving by decreasing
the likelihood that I will forget any of the laws of traffic, making
me a significantly safer driver.
