What
steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
driving? -
Have
you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have seen
your friends or family members driving irresponsibly? -
What
steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help
others become safer on the road?
Sophomore year, all
your friends are driving and you want to drive yourself to school
too. So you take drivers ed. You learn all kinds of things
that teach you how to be safe while you’re behind the wheel. In a
couple months, you have your license and you now have a shiny new
permit, with a shiny new parking lot, also with a shiny new
car(maybe). Then you wonder to yourself. What would driving be like
before drivers’ education? Well a time before drivers’ tests,
people would learn how to drive from other people that knew how to
drive. It was an inefficient way of driving and it often caused a
lot, if not too many, car crashes. Ever since the government started
to implement driver tests, the rate of car crashes has substantially
decreased-and with this- the amount of deaths resulting in driving
has also decreased. Drivers ed creates a safe and engaging
environment to learn the rules of the road. It enlightens drivers to
drive cautiously. Drivers ed also allows individuals to make
mistakes in a controlled setting, so they can learn from them.
Even with drivers
education creating safe drivers, the deaths due to driving accidents
is still considerably high. Many proposals have arisen to combat this
large statistic; some think that if you take your da slowly and
refrain from rushing, driving should be safer. Others think that
driving while you are being affected by some underlying factors can
affect your driving skills. These factors include driving while;
tired, drunk, or high. Hypothetically, If every driver can avoid
driving while under these conditions, the car death statistic will
see a steady decline as the year progresses.
While I have never
had an adverse effect from car accidents, I’ve seen how it has
affected the friends around me. It creates a state of depression and
a big financial deficit in the lives of crash victims and their
family members.
I think that the
first step to being aware that car crashes happen and they hurt the
people around you. The first and most important step of being aware
that car crashes happen and we need to stop them. This is a step that
every driver should take to better alert themselves as they enter
their vehicles.
