The
Dangers of Driving

Driver
education is extremely useful in preventing deaths on Texas roads.
Understanding road signs and being cognizant of specific traffic laws
can allow one to safely navigate roads and highways. If people
weren’t educated on the proper way to operate a vehicle, then traffic
accidents would be inevitable due to disorder. There are many steps
to be taken if one wishes to reduce the number of deaths related to
driving. One crucial step is avoiding alcohol consumption. Alcohol,
no matter the amount ingested, seriously impairs the drivers ability
to operate a motor vehicle. Driving when exhausted is also a terrible
idea because when one is fatigued, their consciousness and ability to
pay attention is affected and they may happen to fall asleep on the
wheel, causing a traffic accident. I have had an experience with
being in a car accident during the time I lived in Los Angeles. I was
5 years old during the incident. When my mother was driving, an
individual that was tailgating her rammed their vehicle into the back
of our Toyota. The vehicle shook violently, which frightened me
because I had never experienced something that powerful. It made me
realize that tailgating someone is dangerous because in case the car
in front slams on their brakes, then that individual has space and
time to come to a safe stop. There are plenty of steps that I can
advise others to help them prevent collisions. An important step that
I can recommend to others is avoiding reckless activity when
operating a motor vehicle. Speeding and/or changing lanes constantly
can result in more traffic accidents and even death. Another
important step that I can suggest to an individual in reducing
driving related deaths is by keeping the driver distraction free. Say
if you’re a passenger, talking to the driver or attempting to show
them something can cause their attention to be diverted from the road
in front of them and swerve the vehicle. This can easily cause a
serious collision, depending on how fast the driver is operating the
vehicle. Keeping the driver informed, focused on the road and sober
is one of the best ways to prevent traffic accidents and even death.
