Transitioning
into teenagers may bring such exciting new chapters in life,
especially when we get to learn to drive. However, what most
teenagers do not understand is that driving is a privilege, not a
right. The importance of drivers ed has risen more than ever
due to increasing numbers of recent U.S. Highway fatalities among
most minorities as well as adults. To reduce the numbers of deaths
and be better and safer drivers, the people our community should hold
each other accountable respectfully for foul driving on the road and
individually be aware of others and our own actions behind the wheel.
The number one
killer in America is automobile transportation where over thousands
of people lose their lives each year in fatal car crashes. There are
several methods on how to reduce deaths relating to crash crashes but
are only effective if being followed properly. The top priority is to
never, ever drink and drive because alcohol clouds the mind’s
judgement and focus which usually results in many deaths. As equally
important, limit or completely eliminate any and all distractions
such as use of the cell phone, eating, changing the radio or checking
yourself out in the mirror. Driving requires an abundance of
responsibility and focus to avoid any more preventable deaths in U.S.
Highways.
There are many tips
to follow for practicing better and safer driving that may also help
others develop safer habits on the road as well. While driving, keep
your eyes on the road and be aware of your surroundings to be
prepared for the unexpected. It is best to avoid construction areas
and jammed traffic to evade any dangerous collusion with other
vehicles while trying to get out in a rush. Always follow speed
limits and rules of the road to not only prevent getting in a car
crash but to also reduce your chances of getting a ticket by a
policeman on duty. The best way to have a safe and happy drive is to
ignore aggressive drivers and control your road rage because emotions
do get the best of us and alter our decisions.
Thankfully, I
personally have not experienced a car accident, however, one of my
cousins has due to be collided by an irresponsible dunk driver a few
years back. The accident was not severe but not so minor either.
Fortunately, my cousin has successfully recovered well and got his
car fixed by the driver who hit him.
The number of
deaths on America’s roads have risen each and every year due to
irresponsible driving. Our task as a society should to care for one
another especially while driving. Together, we can excel as safer and
better drivers to reduce the number of deaths in car crashes. Lives
should not end as we begin on the road.
