If more people took the Drivers ed course, I believe there
would be less fatalities. When I was enrolled in the Driver’s
Education course, we watched multiple videos about fatalities on the
road. If more people watched these videos, they would realize how
much everything can change in a split second.
The following steps could be taken to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving. Every car could have a breathalyzer to check if
the person is under the influence of any drug, alcohol, etc. We could
make Drivers ed a mandatory class in high school. The law
enforcement could enforce the rules a little harder, and everyone
could try to avoid drunk driving.
I
have never been in a car accident myself, but I have had a friend
pass away because of the harmful decisions of a driver. My friend was
in the car with her good friend on the way through Blue Ridge
Parkway. The driver decided he wanted to go around his friend in a no
passing zone going over the speed limit. The car went off the
mountain and landed in a valley. My friend Macy was thrown from the
car and the vehicle landed on top of her and she passed away on
scene.
I
am a cautious driver; I always pay attention to what I’m doing and
what the cars around me are doing. I could become a safer driver by
watching for animals who decide to walk near or on the road. I could
help other people become safer drivers by not texting them when I
know they’re driving. I could also help others become safer drivers
by letting people get in front of me if they’re trying to get over
so they won’t have to speed up.
