of Driving Safely
Approximately
1.25 million people in America pass away each year in a car accident.
This number is staggeringly high compared to other countries. You may
be asking what can be done to prevent this? Well, the truth is we
need better-educated drivers. Only fifteen states allow drivers
education classes. These states are California, Colorado, Florida,
Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. This prevents the
remaining thirty-five states from having to further their education
in driving. Although this is the case, I believe there are steps that
can be done to prevent the number of deaths.
My first idea
that could prevent vehicular fatalities would be to provide people
with more drivers ed classes. Taking classes could provide
drivers with an education so they can be more careful and prepared to
take on driving. Another idea to prevent dangerous driving would be
for people to have their car examined more often. A safer car means a
better chance of preventing dangerous accidents that are provoked by
the car rather than the driver. Those are just two ways to prevent
vehicular fatalities that are reasonable.
I have never
been in a car accident or have been in the car with reckless drivers.
Although this is the case for me, my parents have been in a car
accident. They were my age and going up a mountain and the car behind
them sped up and hit them. My parents were terrified and luckily
nobody was injured. It turns out the person driving the car that hit
them was likely under the influence, but my parents handled the
situation properly and left. I find this story interesting but awful
considering my parents had nothing to do with this, but still ended
up involved. Anyways, irrational driving affects many people, even
the ones you know.
There are
various steps that can be taken to be a better driver. You can
obviously drive completely sober to prevent you from hurting yourself
or others. You could try to make sure your surrounding drivers are
driving safely. It is also important to make sure your car is
functioning completely normal. The most important thing to me is to
be completely concentrated on the road and your surroundings.
Overall, I think the fact that roughly 1.25 million people in the
United States is really high and that number could be drastically
reduced if we followed more precautions.
