Down on Safe Driving
Driving
is a major part of everyone’s day, and we often overlook the
dangers of it because we do it every day. It is crucial that we take
initiative and educate ourselves on the potential consequences of
reckless driving before more lives are taken. Drivers ed
informs participants on how to operate a vehicle safely and
effectively. The answer to reducing fatalities from car accidents
lies in prevention through drivers ed. In this day and age,
most people have a social media account on at least one of the many
platforms; therefore, creating social media campaigns that directly
target drivers and promote vehicle safety could prove to be a viable
method to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. It would
also be helpful if mainstream media influencers advocated for safe
driving because many of their fans want to support what their
favorite celebrity supports.
Driving is not something to be taken lightly. When you are on the
road, you are endangering the lives of everyone on the road if you
aren’t practicing safe driving skills. I have seen first-hand and
experienced what can happen if drivers are not operating the vehicle
responsibly. I was driving on the highway, about to merge onto the
interstate, when a car behind me ran into my car. I was startled, but
luckily no one had any major injuries. The careless driving of that
one person could have ended the lives of all the people in both cars.
I strive every day to take steps toward being a better and safer
driver by being aware of my surroundings, using my turning signals,
and looking both ways before I go. I also encourage those around me
to wear their seat belts and stay off their phones while they are in
a vehicle.
