Everyone
has to drive one day. You have to drive to get to work, visit family,
get groceries. Driving is critical to the economy. While it has its
pros and cons, no one can deny that if you’re going to drive, then
you have to be responsible for your safety and everyone else on the
road.
Driving
education was made to teach teenagers how to drive(not physically),
to be able to identify certain signs, symbols, and what to do in
certain situations. If we didn’t have this, teenagers would have to
find out with real experience on the road. Some of these experiences
could pay off while some of it could leave someone in critical
condition or dead. Everyone learns about driving through actually
driving but knowledge about the road prior to driving is important.
No
one is ever truly safe on the rod. What I mean by this is that while
you
may be a safe and responsible driver, you can’t speak for the
person to your left or behind you. They may not be safe on the road.
If we want to reduce the number of deaths on the road, I think
students should be taught that driving on the road is a privilege and
a gift, and that speed isn’t the most important thing. Students
nowadays should know that when you drive on the road, it’s not just
their life on the line but everyone else that’s on the road. It
should be taught and emphasized that speed is not how you should
drive. You shouldn’t be racing down the highway or street when the
speed limit is thirty five. This geration and the new generation
should know this if we want the deaths caused by driving to be
reduced.
I’ve
never been in a car accident or seen my friends or family driving
irresponsibly. However, my mom was in an accident a year ago. The
person hit her and kept going. When I got the call, I almost broke
down before hearing that she was alright and that the car was only
damaged a little. Everything was alright after that: She didn’t
have any injuries, the car was damaged but she got a new one, and a
bird pooped on her.
I’ve
only had my license for two years. Since then I’ve learned a lot
about driving. I’ve had times where I almost crashed(and died) but
I’ve learned from it. A way for me to become a better and safer
driver is for me to think ahead about where I’m going and to also
always remain in the moment. A problem I’ve had as a driver is
thinking ahead about how to get to where I’m going. When you drive,
you should already have the path mapped out for you. The second
problem is that I tend to zone out. This is something I do in and out
of the car.
