I’m
very impressed with math and I’m attracted to the idea of helping
people. I work as a Math Lab Tutor here at San Antonio College since
September 2011, and I’m so glad to have this opportunity to share my
knowledge with SAC students and to help them to succeed in their Math
classes. I also served twice as a volunteer in the Annual Middle
School and High School Championship Meet at UTSA by assisting with
TEXAS MATH and SCIENCE COACHES ASSOCIATION (TMSCA). I have served as
a volunteer for years in Algeria with the International Red Cross and
Red Crescent Movement in addition to variety of local volunteerism
activities over there. I graduated from San Antonio college where I
have been selected a distinguished graduate for the Mathematics
program, then I transferred to UTSA to peruse my studies to get a
bachelor degree in Math and I’m enrolled in the same time in the
UTEACH program to get the state teaching certificate in the STEM
field. My current GPA at UTSA is 3.88.

I
really want to get into school to study Mathematics. It’s been
something I wanted to do since I was a kid; I’ve always been
interested in Math and computers. I have found that Mathematics is
the major that I’m looking for and just what I need to be successful
at my goals. I studied Math and computer science for two years in
Algeria, and I used to work over there in some electronics stores. I
plan to enter and succeed in my major. The knowledge that I will
acquire during that time will help me help others not only
superficial but also emotionally through words and actions. I expect
my education to help me attain my goals by giving me the experience I
need for the job I want. With my experience in tutoring, I believe
that I can gain a career in teaching. My career goal is to become a
college high school math teacher and I believe that I have the
ability to follow through with all the hard work it will take to
achieve my dreams and my goals, and to succeed in my studies.

I
am strongly willing to participate in programs and activities which
are needed to complete my goals. I will push myself in all ways to
succeed and graduate so that I may fulfill my creative dream. My goal
is to teach Math in San Antonio and to help the future generation to
succeed in their studies by making learning fun, as stimulating,
engaging lessons are pivotal to a student’s academic success. Also
by Inspiring students to ensuring their success and encouraging them
to fulfill their potential. I will impart knowledge and values on
learners with the intention of creating self-sufficient, articulate,
socially responsible, resilient and active citizens in San Antonio,
and also develop a positive and desirable personality traits among
individuals in the society. Another important social contribution
that I will try to make to society is the aspect of leadership and
guidance by demonstrate to the society how a dynamic leader should
behave and act.
