Drinking
and Driving: A Tragedy

In
today’s society, many teenagers believe that drinking and driving
is a popular thing. I do not believe in that. I believe drinking and
driving is highly dangerous and is very careless, due to the fact
that many people have lost their lives in committing this horrendous
act. According to BACtrack, in 2010, people killed in alcohol-related
driving crashes accounted for nearly one-third (31%) of all
traffic-related deaths. Many mothers, fathers, children, and everyone
loses their lives to this tragic, and very irresponsible action. I
feel like if a person does decide to drink somewhere, they should
have a plan of how they are going to get home, whether it’s by a
friend/ family member, or an Uber.

In
the U.S, you have to be 21 to buy alcohol. Most teens just find
someone who is 21+, and they pay them to buy the drinks for them. I
feel like there should be some other type of way to make certain that
a teenager would not be able to get their hands on alcohol, or at
least not get behind the wheel under the influence. At this point in
time, people just do not think about the actions they commit before
they actually commit it.

In order to prevent future
incidents, there should be classes and more awareness to the matter.
There should be different organizations, events, and information
sessions in different area and communities, in the event that an
individual does not know anything about the matter, in spite of the
fact that it should be just plain common sense. I feel like if those
occurred at least once a month, more people would have knowledge of
the situation, and maybe they would even think about what they are
doing before they do it.
