Importance
of Driving Safe
The importance of
having an education in driving is high to prevent accidents and
possible deaths from happening. When you take your drivers exam, you
know about being aware of your surroundings, and what distances you
need to be from stop signs, cars, etc. Some of the steps that you
could take to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are not
using your phone or distracting yourself in any sort of way, not
stepping on the gas to make it on a yellow light, looking both ways
every time even if it’s your turn to go, not driving late at night
when you know that you are tired. I have had an experience of being
in a car accident while we were stopped at a red light waiting for
our turn to go. Me and my friends were coming back from a PBR show
when out of nowhere we get hit from the back, suddenly we’re moving
forward until we slightly hit the car that was in front of us. Before
the cops came, the guy who crashed into us took off running across
the highway, leaving us wondering what he was doing that he crashed
into us. Being aware of other drivers goes a long way, it could be
your turn to go, but there could be someone else that is texting and
driving or distracted by something else that they might not stop, you
would then be aware to either stop or go a little faster if you have
enough time. The steps that I could take to be a better and safer
driver is to not get distracted by wanting to check what notification
just popped up on my phone. I could also help others by encouraging
them to silent their phones and put them somewhere where they
wouldn’t feel tempted to check it, and if they are going to put
music, to make a playlist so they won’t be getting distracted on
choosing a song.
