Safety about driving

As
a teen driver myself, I have almost experienced an accident just by
driving home from school. Car accidents are very unpredictable you
never know when you are going to get into one or how serious the
accident may be. That is why we practice and learn the safety rules
of driving to prevent an accident from happening. However, some
people ignore these rules and that is why many car accidents happen
every day, so that is why we have to raise awareness of driving
safely.

I
just started driving last year and I have learned a lot about all the
safety rules for driving and apply them when I am driving. All these
safety rules I have learned from the study guide for the permit test
and from my driving instructor when I took driving lessons. I think
it is necessary that people read or practice with an experienced
driver about the safety rules before driving on their own, so that
they can learn what they should and not do when driving. Driver
education is really important since they teach about the safety of
driving and one thing is to always check your blind spot when
signaling to turn. This is how my accident almost happened because
the person turning into my lane didn’t see me until the last minute
and it’s really annoying when these things happen. I think steps
that need to be taken to prevent accidents is to not get distracted.
If you cannot talk with someone in the car while driving then don’t
do it if it distracts. Also don’t text and drive, I have seen many
drivers using their phone while driving and that only increases their
chance of getting into a car accident. Also don’t eat while
driving, basically don’t do anything that will not have you focus
on the road. However, do not get tunnel vision while driving because
that is also unsafe since you will not check your surroundings. My
parents while they have driving for many years, they sometimes use
their phone while driving and it frightens me, because I don’t want
them to crash and I always tell them to stop using your phone, but
they still do it anyway because they think that they are good
drivers. While they have more experience than me, you shouldn’t
rely on your years of driving and think you will not get in an
accident. You still have to follow the safety rules.

Overall,
I think I can be a better driver by not being nervous, because at
times I do get nervous when driving and that just makes it worse. I
recommend to new drivers or current drivers that you should always be
aware of your surroundings, don’t get distracted, don’t text or
use your phone, most importantly do not drink and drive if you are
over the age of 21. If you don’t know the safety rules then read
them in the DMV website and practice in open parking area.
