The
Fatality of “Bob”, My First Car

The importance of driver
education will indeed reduce the number of driver-related deaths
whether it involved other vehicles or an animal on the road. Driver
education prepares new drivers to think about their actions with
every turn. It is essential to be safe in all driving situations,
such as in climate weather or busy highways during the summer season.
It is always better to be late to work or college than risk another
person’s life because you cannot press a replay button once you
have a car accident.
Some steps that can be taken
to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are: enrolling in a
defensive driving course to ensure safety and lessen aggression on
the road, hire a driving school besides the required hours of driver
training that is needed for a permit, don’t drink alcohol or text
on your phone while you drive, and most importantly stay in the
moment when you drive a car. It is crucial to stay focused on the
road because an emergency can happen at any time.
I experienced my first car
accident in my sophomore year of college. I was going to be late for
class in the morning and was focused on getting to school on time. I
yielded to oncoming traffic on a green light and turned left.
However, my car skidded into the car that was stopped at the red
light in the other lane going the opposite direction due to the wet
road conditions. There were no personal injuries, but there was
severe damage on the front of the other car as well as my first car
named “Bob”. Unfortunately, “Bob” was a totaled Oldsmobile .
I received a ticket as a result of the car accident.
Steps that I took to be a
better and safer driver was to invest in a defensive driving course.
I became more cautious of my surroundings and was more focused on the
present. I now leave I little bit earlier when I commute to college
or work. I promoted safe driving by talking to my family members and
friends about my car accident and how I overcame the temporary
freedom that I lost when “Bob” was totaled.
