One Glance Is All It Takes
The importance of driver education is making sure that drivers know how to act on roads, highways, and in neighborhoods. If people did not go through the lengthy process of taking the written test, driving for the 40 hours needed, and taking the driving test, people would be getting into more crashes daily. In the past you were more relaxed when trying to get your license, you might have to take a short test, or pay a couple of bucks, but that was it, and a lot of people died from that. Now when trying to get your license it is a longer process and takes more time to do. When educated people will or at least should know how to drive on roads and how to react accordingly to certain situations. If they are not correctly educated, then they are not going to be able to react accordingly and cause accidents which can result in deaths. The steps that could be taken to reduce the number of deaths is make the roads more clearer, I know for me there have been a couple of times to where I don’t realize that the lane I’m in is a lane that merges or turns right or left, and I need to go straight, and I have to get over quickly. At other times it is the people who are driving which make the roads dangerous. A fair amount of accidents are due to people drinking and driving which is not ok in any circumstances, and people need to make sure that they have someone who is the designated driver or a way of getting home before going out and getting wasted so that they aren’t the ones risking their lives, and the lives of others. Another thing, when going out for a jog or a walk at night wear light-colored clothes or reflective material. DON’T WEAR DARK CLOTHES. People cannot see you, and if you are walking across the street, you run over. For people that are driving, turn on your headlights, and do not put them on high beams. People can’t see when you do that especially when it’s foggy, and it’s even worse for people with astigmatisms (I would know I have it) my sight is worse enough as it is with my astigmatism that I don’t need you and your high LED beams shining in my eyes to where it might cause a wreak. Going along with how we can reduce the deaths is two ways one, stop using your high beams when it is not necessary the only time, I would think of using mine is when I am going down a dirt road, because of the wildlife that comes through there. The second way is, I know looking at wrecks and accidents is fun to look at (trust me I have done it too) but stop rubber necking it. If you are not paying attention to the road, and someone breaks hard right in front of you and you do not realize it, be glad that there’s police officers and ambulances in the area, because you just got into a wreck. Last thing about the steps that can be reduced to make the roads safer is if you are starting to get sleepy on the highway (called highway hypnosis), FIND A PLACE TO SLEEP, falling asleep on the highway is absolutely bad, you will lose control of the car, and might crash if you don’t wake up in time, find a parking lot, a hotel or something and somewhere to park, and sleep for the night, or if you have another person who has their license ask them if they can drive, if so, pull off somewhere swap drivers and get some shut eye, until you make it to where you need to go, or you need to swap again, or you need to stop for the night, do not drive if you feel tired. Have I personally experienced being in an accident or know of a family member who has been in one? No, no I have not, in which I am incredibly grateful, and thankful for. I have been in one situation where it was a very close call, and I was going to be the one who got hit the hardest, and it felt like my heart leaped out of me, and it seemed like my life flashed before my eyes, I got so scared so quickly. The steps I can take to be a better driver is to pay attention to the road, to not get distracted by my phone, or other people, or my music. For me to be safer is to pay attention when trying to make a turn, and I cannot fully see cars that are coming, and when trying to change lanes, make sure that I am not going to hit anyone as I am changing lanes.
