My Say on Driving Today

Being able to drive is something that many enjoy doing. Hopping in a car with friends, going on a trip or going home after a long day of work, we can all agree that if it were not for driving our life would not be that easy. But regardless we all need to have the proper knowledge when taking to the road and being mindful of the people around us for their safety and our own. By learning about the importance behind driving, taking steps to reduce fatalities, learning from experienced people, and taking proper steps towards better driving we can make the roads of today better for those starting tomorrow. Let us start on why learning about the importance of something is to always keep in mind.

The reason behind learning the importance of driver education has to do with reducing the number deaths as a result of driving while also making roads safer with this proper knowledge. Driving starter courses offered online teach future learners on the basics of driving. These courses also give more in depth on what certain signs and signals are and what they mean towards making roads efficient and safe to drive. But at times future drivers, especially teenagers, tend to brush past some of these important key points and rush through these courses without putting into consideration the many other lives that are on the road beside them. This is what leads to many losses of innocent lives who were just trying to live their life as someone else just did not want to learn the importance behind being a good driver. So, this is why ever driver should know the importance of driver education to reduce fatal death on the roads we share. But we must also go over what steps to take when reducing deaths due to inconsiderate drivers.

Each year many lives are taken away from many on the road due to inconsiderate drivers on the road. As said from NHTSA, they estimate that 40,990 people died in 2023 alone just from motor vehicle crashes. So, what can we do to lower the number of fatalities each year from motor vehicle crashes. Steps such as being aware, walking on sidewalks, proper vehicle care, funding for better infrastructure of roads and good driving behavior are few of the many choices people can take in lower this number through the years. But by not following these choices listed the number will probably stay similar or even worse, increase over the years. Keep in mind that your choices can make a possible impact on someone’s life even right now. But not to forget it is also good to learn from the people who started before and ask based on their experience.

Coming from an individual who is currently a freshman in college and has been on the roads for almost two years, it is safe to say that I have collected experience during my time. Compared to my parents though, I do not as they helped me take my first steps as I started to turn the key and hit the roads. Thankfully I have not been a part of any accidents, but I have seen how an accident can change a person’s life. As I was in India, I recall of the time a neighbor of mine was involved in tragic accident that took the innocent lives of four of his family members, one being an infant. This really impacted me as a child as I always keep this thought in my mind that I always be mindful on the road as I would not want to harm someone else’s life. Always keep in mind the peoples lives around you and most importantly your life as well. Not forgetting, we can also make the roads better by taking proper steps.

Proper steps are put in place for drivers to make it easier for them to understand. By following through with these steps, drivers can feel comfortable and safe when on the road while also letting the people beside them know that they are driving with safe drivers. Some steps include Looking ahead, being aware of your surroundings, keeping a safe distance between vehicles, accelerating and braking smoothly and knowing the importance behind being a good driver. With these steps in mind becoming a future driver, you will let driving become an advantage to have by your side. But by not following proper steps such as the ones listed, driving will probably become a challenge or even an obstacle which could lead to many mistakes or accidents on the roads that affect others. So always keep in mind the proper steps to not just making driving an ease for you but also for the others around you. So, by being respectfully, have care, and watching drivers around you could become not just a better driver but also a safe driver for the many people around us.

In conclusion, when recapping on what it means to be a fellow driver, it is always best to learning about the importance behind driving, taking steps to reduce fatalities, learning from experienced people, and taking proper steps towards better driving, these all can impact the drivers around us and those who are turning the key for the first time today. With the right choices comes the right expected outcomes.
