Better
Left Unread Than Dead!
Learning
how to drive and earning a Driving Permit/Driver’s License can be
very exciting and is a huge milestone in your life. It can be
sometimes overwhelming or stressful trying to earn the right to drive
legally on the streets! Becoming a good driver requires you to be
defensive when driving and aware of your surroundings. I hope this
essay will help a lot of new drivers with the tips I will provide.
What
is the importance of drivers ed in reducing the number deaths
as a result of driving?
There
are several things you need to do to become a good driver. First, you
need to make sure your car is in safe conditions to drive. You need
to see if your tires are in good condition, need to test your
headlights, check if your taillights are good, check if your
seatbelts are in good condition, and check if you need new brakes or
if it’s missing any important fluids! Failing to have reached
satisfaction on any of these items can put you and other lives in a
higher risk in getting in an accident! Next, be a defensive driver
whenever you’re driving and if your phone has a DO
NOT DISTURB
mode, turn it on! It’s much better for your messages to be LEFT
UNREAD THAN BEING DEAD.
Lastly, never drive if you’re feeling sick, tired, or if you get
intoxicated.
Have
you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have seen your
friends or family members driving irresponsibly?
Unfortunately,
I experienced being in a car accident. Thankfully no one got hurt but
the reason the accident occurred was because of distracted driving. I
got distracted with something that happened outside and the car in
front made a sudden stop and ended up in a front-end accident. There
was certainly lessons learned from this accident. Never drive
distracted or never drive while on your phone.
What
steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help
others become safer on the road?
As
mentioned in the beginning of essay, be a defensive driver all the
time when driving. Be aware of your surroundings and always follow
the law when driving. It’s a lot better to have a few messages LEFT
UNREAD THAN BEING DEAD.
If you own a phone that has the “DO NOT DISTURB” mode feature,
please use it! I don’t realize I get notifications on my phone
until I stop driving. It can be tempting to open a notification when
receiving one. Because of it being tempting, I’m so thankful that
the “DO NOT DISTURB MODE” exists!
