education is important in reducing the number of deaths as a result
of driving because it allows drivers to be aware of the various risks
that could happen on the road. A car is a vehicle but it also a
killing machine that threatens the lives of many if not used
properly. In order to reduce the number of deaths related to driving,
knowledge of the rules of the road is an important step. By being
familiar with the road signs and rules of the road, it makes almost
every driver conscious that those rules are to be followed. However,
most drivers know the rules of the road, but choose not to follow
them. Now, they cannot be forced to do something, but, there should
be some sort of regulation or punishment on them if they do not
follow these rules. Also, by making an effort to wear your seatbelt
marks one step closer to safety. In the event of a crash, you are
ensuring a bit of safety, so that you can stay in your seat and not
fly into the front shield. Additionally, by not using your cellphone
or cellular device in the car allows the driver to be focused on just
driving. Using your phone in the car is a major distraction that is
typical almost everywhere. I have never been in a major crash, but
once my mom was driving back from the hospital with my grandma,
uncle, brother, and me in the car. We were stopped since there was a
red light and it was raining. All I remember is a car from behind us
crashed us from the back. The hit was not a major one, but I was
scared that it could have turn into something else. I remember
feeling a jolt, scared for my life that hopefully nothing would
happen to my family and me. I have seen friends or family members
drive irresponsibly. For example, I was driving once with my cousin
and she used her phone while driving. Texting and driving is a
serious issue that causes many deaths to drivers. In order for I to
be a better and safer driver, I can pay close attention to the other
cars surrounding me. I need to be alert if a car is slowing down or
speeding up, or if they are too close to my car. I also need to gain
more experience driving on the main streets before I go driving
somewhere at a much higher pace. To help others become safer on the
road, I can be patient and be cautious of everyone on the road, since
they do not all follow the rules of the road. In addition, I can
distance myself from the cars to create space between our cars.
