The
importance of drivers ed is informing new drivers of how
dangerous driving can be and enforcing to drive with caution, so no
harm will be done to you and others on the road. Some steps to reduce
the number of deaths related to driving are that many individuals can
stop driving irrationally, and can take a more passive driving style.
Many unsafe drivers do not use their rear-view mirrors as much and
can cause many accidents involving smaller vehicles such as
motorcycles. Many others who drive under the influence or who plan to
drink should bring another individual to drive them back safely. An
idea for those who drive recklessly and for all drivers, all cars
should have a function to record and create a history of how fast you
were going or if you were shifting in and out of lanes under the
influence or without indication. Another device within vehicles
should be able to sense the alcohol levels around or from the driver,
and once the alcohol level from the individual is high to be unsafe
from driving should alert the nearest officer; the driver should not
be under arrest but shall be taken safely to their home, but if
repeated over and over then should the individual be tried in court.
I have been in only one accident when I was younger, fortunately no
one was hurt. There have been many close encounters with being in
another accident, but with family and friends they all drive
responsible ensuring the safety of those who are with them. Defensive
driving is about the safest way for a person to drive. However, a
large number of people who drive are not like this, but should be an
essential when driving on the road. Another way to be safer, I say
would have the passenger help inform the driver of any possible
dangers the driver cannot see. The same goes for the driver if they
have distracting passengers, then the driver should inform the
passenger since it does risk the life of them, the driver, and others
on the road. Now if the passenger notices the driver using their
phone, they should try anyway they can to get the driver off their
phone reducing the risks of an accident. The safety of the
passengers, others on the road are in the driver’s hand.
