Roundabout

I
think about volunteering as a roundabout. Volunteering connects me
and the people I help and sends them off feeling lighter. The
majority of the volunteer work I do has to with kids. This is because
I want to make an impact on this world and children are what the
world is going to be made up of soon.

One
volunteer position I have is working with middle school students
every Sunday for an hour and a half. In this position at Breakpoint
Community Church, I plan games and activities for the students that
they play before a lesson. The biggest challenge is finding or coming
up with games that the children who like to sit and the children who
like to run around would both like, but I have learned a balance.
Through this and my other volunteer positions, I have learned that I
definitely want my career to have to do with children. I also learned
how to explain and get activities going; as well as, assigning people
the tasks I cannot get to. If I were to come back in ten years I know
I would see the difference I made on the middle school program as I
am the first one with this position. When I came back I would see the
third person in this position learning how to do it and the students
having fun, which is what gives me the most satisfaction in this
position.
