We’ve concluded our review of submissions for our “Youth Forward” scholarship. In addition to running one of the best online drivers education systems in California, our mission has been to encourage and support those teens that “give back” to their communities through volunteerism. The response to our scholarship essay contest was tremendous. Clearly, the spirit of volunteerism is alive and well in this generation!
College is more expensive than ever, especially in California. After the budget cuts enacted by the legislature, even public universities such as the flagship University of California at Berkeley and University of California at Los Angeles are almost out of reach of the middle class, as are our community colleges and the quality California state system, such as San Francisco State University. Today’s high school seniors and even those who are already enrolled in colleges here in the Golden State are always on the lookout for new opportunities to earn scholarship money.

California Education Scholarship: Highlights
Volunteerism is increasingly important in American society. Indeed, most of today’s High Schools require some type of volunteer work in order to graduate. Colleges and universities as well seek to encourage students to “give back” to their communities.
This scholarship seeks to reward a few deserving youth for their commitment to the spirit of volunteerism. The application is handled in essay format. To apply, applicants must submit an essay of less than 500 words in Microsoft Word format. Questions to be answered in the essay include the area chosen for volunteer service, the hours per week, the biggest challenge, the most satisfying experience, and what has been learned by the volunteer engagement.
