Coastline Academy

Coastline accepted our enrollment and our money, only to cancel lessons on us without notice and only provided a partial refund after only having had one lesson. They are attempting effectively charging us 30% more for the one lesson than previously aggreged. I would avoid this company at all costs, I am suspecting a scam or fraudulent company at best and have now filed a complaint with our Attorney General, and Better Business Bureau.

This company "teaches" their students to drive in our neighborhood and tres pass on private property! They have the students performing very strange backing up over curbs maneuvers. Our neighbors are trying to get them removed from our neighborhood!

I signed my son up for the 6-hour driving course. So far he has taken the first two-hour lesson. The driving lesson itself was great and there were many time slots to choose from... however, that was over the summer. I just tried to schedule the second lesson, but neither of the two instructors available in my area (La Mesa) offer lessons past 2:00 PM on weekdays and have no weekend hours/holidays. My son is in high school... so.... yeah, not customer friendly in terms of availability. My son's got one random day off in October that I will try to schedule for, but Coastline's October calendar isn't up yet. Wish me luck, either for scheduling or getting refunded!

Agreeing with L Z. The Certificate Mailing is simple extortion. They hold the certificate for weeks before sending it out unless you pay $40 - $60. The education seemed to be good, but the business practice is criminal. I plan to contact the BBB.

By coincidence I saw in front of my car a coast sticker student driving After at home I call them and made schedule for my daughter.She told me the Instructor very professional and the program too After 2nd training we got reports what have done and to do to more drive skill and safety Thanks.

I'm not a fan of the misleading pricing for drivers ed. "Free certificate mailing" means they threaten to sit on the cert for a couple weeks before sending it out. If you want the certificate in a reasonable amount of time they'll charge between $40 and $60 extra - but of course they don't tell you this in advance. I can't support or recommend any business that takes advantage of customers like this.

I will give this academy 5 stars. I called in late to get a slot at short notice due to time constraints for my niece who had her test scheduled today. Marie was extremely helpful and managed to find a 2 hour slot the day before the test. The instructor Horacio deserves special mention. He messaged me well ahead of the class, arrived at the location well before the scheduled lesson and the 2 hours he spent with her made the difference. He provided her with extremely useful tips and guidance and spent a lot of time explaining to her on the right driving techniques. He also corrected some erroneous advice that I was providing her and explained to me as well. She completed her test successfully today with very few minor errors. Kudos to Coastline Academy and more importantly thank you Horacio.

Benjamin Thorne is legit; I contacted him via email on a Saturday for refund and he just asked 1 question as to why, then processed the refund immediately. In this day and age of orgs trying to use BS automated systems and making things like refund requests difficult, I love when I find companies like this that just to the right f****** thing. Thank you, Benjamin, I highly appreciate your willingness to just do the right thing without hesitation. I highly recommend Coastline; you do not need to worry about being treated right. Nice work!

So I have driving sessions and so far, My instructor has been patient and helped me improve and calm my nervousness during driving. Would 100% recommend Shayne S. Hes a great instructor and driving is alot better for me now, Gives me great advice and really explains things well. Might be expensive but Its actually a really amazing service these people provide.

I just moved to Bay Area couple of month ago and as everyone in US I need a driving license. Problem is I did not have any prior driving experience and I did not know anyone who can teach and practice driving with me during weekends for example. So, I've decided to find a driving school and start from the scratch. Coastline Academy had all 5 start rating (now I know why) and I decided to apply for number of lessons. I booked number of lessons with a schedule that was working for me. Schedule was pretty random, but luckily Academy has a lot of time options to pick. I took 5 lessons with 5 different instructors: Raymond, Pierre, Catherine, Nate and Shayne. They are all great people! They were very patient with teaching me and provided a lot of useful information on how not only pass DMV behind the wheel test, but how to be a good driver and how to act on different situations overall which is VERY important when you do not have prior driving experience.I was able to pass DMV exam and gain confidence being behind the wheel. Thank you Coastline Academy! You have a brilliant team!

I needed to train with an instructor before my test, and I have zero driving experience. I scheduled a lesson with Dave. He was very professional, friendly and very methodical while teaching. I learnt a lot in one session. I highly recommend Dave and Coastline Academy!Also their website is designed very well- it is very easy to pick time slots and instructors. They also have slots in the evening (which is convenient if you want to train after work)

Coastline helped my teen driver immensely, and his mom along with! I was nervous about him starting driving, but in their lessons, they exposed him to many more real world traffic situations than I would have. It gave me confidence in his driving, and a much easier transition. The drivers were prompt, friendly. The online communication all worked well, and the office staff was great. I would highly recommend them for beginning drivers! Thanks!

Coastline Academy offers a great service and I feel much more prepared for my test. I had Diana as a driving instructor and she was wonderful! She listened to my concerns, reassured me, and had me practice my weak areas again and again, resulting in me feeling much more confident! Diana is also very personable which made it easy to talk to her and ask her questions. Feedback at the end of every lesson was a fantastic way for me to know my strengths and areas to improve, and the little motivational speeches really uplifted me!! Thank you to Diana!! You're a gem!!

I highly recommend Coastline Academy for ALL first time drivers. The website is so easy to use to purchase packages and book appointments. My son is currently taking lessons with Shayne in Gilroy, CA. We are extremely impressed with the professionalism and instruction that we have received from Shayne. Shayne is the utmost professional and really helped my son gain confidence in his driving his skills. Shayne arrives on time to scheduled appointments and provides very thorough instructions on every aspect of the vehicle, driving techniques, and tips. We booked three, two hour sessions and plan on booking a few more sessions as we get closer to take the behind the wheel test at DMV. Shayne and Coastline Academy have not only given my son the confidence to drive, but also as a parent I have peace of mind that my son is getting the BEST instruction. Do not hesitate to book! The investment is totally worth it!

I have been taking my driving lessons with Coastline academy for over a month now. The instructors are always professional, on-time and empathetic to my learning needs. Their customer service team is very prompt in terms of communication. I love the ease of scheduling online and being able to follow my progress in the learning report. Their price is on the expensive side but I find them much more reliable compared to other individual companies here in SF (some of which only take cash, doesn't have a website/customer support team and is kind of sketchy).

I spent a lot of time and research picking a driving school in the area because I'm an adult driver with zero experience. I also wanted to be able to drive in the car I took lessons with for the actual behind-the-wheel at the DMV. It was absolutely the right choice. I worked with Diana and she was the most patient, humorous, and understanding teacher I could've been paired with. I ended up taking 5 lessons with her and felt prepared enough to take the behind-the-wheel and passed on my first try. (Definitely ask for Diana if you can!!!) On a technical note - booking lessons through their website is very easy. They also have a great refund policy and are willing to work with you if you run into any issues.

This driving school is perfect, Sam Kelley's style of teaching is versatile and got me a perfect score on my driving test. If you're thinking about this school, you're on the right track, if you're thinking of somewhere else, well good luck

Great driving school!! Diana helped me tremendously I had Little to no experience with driving and she helped me pass my test on the first try!!! She's great I recommend her if you are in the Bay Area and looking for a great driving instructor
